Providing safe, organized hockey for players "55+" since 1985
In 1985 a small group of “experienced” hockey players took advantage of bargain priced ice at Silverwood’s Arena. Those players were the beginning of Huff ’n Puff Hockey. Today, we are a league of 400+ players, referees, goalies and volunteers. Different skill levels are accommodated. Goalies and referees are assigned to games not teams, and do not have to meet the age requirement. Referees are all volunteers who enjoy the opportunity for fun and exercise.
In 2016 Huff N Puff Hockey members voted overwhelmingly in favour of incorporating the league as a non-profit organization (NPO). Healthy ‘N Playing Hockey (London) Inc. received its letters patent in April 2016 and continued to operate the league as HNP Hockey. The 2018 Annual General Meeting voted to change the league’s operating name to London Senior Hockey.
All LSH players, goalies and referees are registered members of the Canadian Adult Recreational Hockey Association. (CARHA). This Association provides extended health insurance for on ice injuries as well as other resources.
LSH continues in the same manner as HNP Hockey did, three games per week from October to mid April at the Western Fair District Sports Complex. This is an excellent facility, the staff works hard to accommodate our league, LSH respects and appreciates the work they do to make our season run smoothly.
LSH stresses safety and fun hockey, rough or aggressive play is not tolerated. The goal is to stay “healthy ‘n playing hockey” as long as possible.
If you are 55+ now, or turning 55 during the season you are eligible to Join LSH Goalies must be 18+. Currently there is a waiting list for those who play defense or forward, eventually we find a spot for all who are seriously interested.
